Background
Marian began her career in nursing: qualifying in General, Midwifery, Psychiatry and Health Visiting (Kings College Hospital and The Maudsley Hospital).She later undertook the following trainings: MSc in Systemic and Family Therapy (Cardiff Family Institute, University of Wales). Trauma series (Oxford Therapy Centre), EMDR (London), Advanced Mental Health Studies – Eating Disorders (University of Central England ), Executive Coaching Level 7 (London), Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Trinity College Ireland) and Narrative Training Level 1 (Ireland).
Clinical Experience
Marian has worked in Ireland and the UK in Adult Mental Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Young Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services and private practice.
Therapeutic Approach
Marian has worked with people as individuals and groups, across the life cycle. This wide variety of clinical experience in community and hospital settings informs her thinking in her therapeutic work. Marian’s view of therapy is that it is a consultative process where individuals, families and groups find their own unique solutions in openness and collaboration. She combines her warm, empathic and non-judgemental approach with high level listening which is rooted in a stance of curiosity. Combining these qualities with her strong and broad theoretical grounding means that she is able to provide hugely valuable reflections during consultations . Her reflections are always articulated very clearly and succinctly making them very engaging and easy to understand.
