Postnatal Mum-check

Why New Mums need Women's Health Physiotherapy

What is the Postnatal Mum-check?

The post-natal Mum-check offered at Evidence-Based Therapy Centre is a 1-hour session with our Women’s Health Physiotherapist Sylvia Farrell. It is a detailed postnatal assessment for new mums, ideally about 6 weeks after having your baby. It will check your posture, breathing, tummy gap and pelvic floor strength.

Most women following childbirth have a weakness in the abdominals and/or the pelvic floor muscles which then creates instability and poor core strength. The can result in back pain, pelvic pain, bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. To avoid any long term childbirth related complaints come early and get started with your optimal postnatal recovery programme.

Many new mums are too busy to look after themselves. However, self-care is an essential component of motherhood. Taking care of yourself will make you a better mother because there will be more of you to give. For more information about why new Mum’s should see a Women’s Health physiotherapist you can read our blog post here.
